Under the direction of the Police Chief, this classification is responsible for managing and overseeing a wide variety of confidential, complex and responsible administrative duties for the Police Chief. Assists in managing the requirements of the high-profile position of the Police Chief in the community and outside the community and the positions obligations on multiple law enforcement boards and committees including assisting with communication, including correlating highly privileged and extremely confidential communications and work products.

Under the general supervision of the Chief of Police or designee, performs highly responsible, complex and varied administrative and analytical work in the development, implementation and administration of programs and projects; conducts complex studies and analyses including financial and budgetary analysis, purchase orders, contract negotiations and contracting with vendors, account payable and receivable, and department projects. Participates in citizen engagement and community outreach. Assists with office management functions and coordination with other City departments.

Under general supervision, performs a variety of specialized and responsible tasks involving the Records section of the Police Department, including processing, maintenance, storage and security of departmental records, reports and documents; provides information and assistance to the public; and performs related work as required.

Evidence Technician/Property Room and Evidence Specialist

The Property Room and Evidence Specialist is required to demonstrate expertise in property room management, inventory and storage of property items, evidence collection/preservation, and the processing of crime scenes. Employees in this class are also responsible for providing technical assistance to sworn peace officers in the investigation, arrest and prosecution of criminal cases and the safekeeping of evidence and other property. Employees in this class may be required to be available for stand-by or on-call responsibilities.
